THE PERFECT TWO DAYS IN ITALY'S PISA AND FLORENCE
I visited Italy; Pisa and Florence, in 2022 and had a wonderful time in these two cities. Two nights in Pisa and one day in Florence. Pisa had a calm, relaxing, small town ambiance while Florence had a flock of tourists, and incredibly beautiful architecture.
In 2022, I had the privilege of visiting two Italian gems: Pisa and Firenze (Florence). Each city, though only a short train ride apart, offered its own unique charm and energy that made my trip unforgettable.
Pisa welcomed me with its calm, small-town vibe. Strolling through its quaint streets and iconic piazzas, I felt like I’d stepped back in time. The Leaning Tower was, of course, a highlight, but what truly made Pisa special was the relaxed pace and warm ambiance. It was the perfect spot to unwind and take in the magic of Italy without the usual tourist hustle. To some extent, it felt like my home town of Osogbo - a peaceful town-which everywhere leaves for the hustle and bustle of bigger cities like Lagos, Nigeria.
If you are looking for the ultimate relaxation spot in Italy, Pisa is it(unless this changes as I visit more of Italy). This charming town offers everything you need to unwind. Start with a scoop of gelato, take a leisurely walk along the scenic Arno River, and, of course, visit the famous Leaning Tower. Pisa’s historic churches and picturesque piazzas add to its appeal, all set against a backdrop of beautiful sunshine. It’s the perfect place to slow down and forget all your worries.
Firenze, Florence
Florence is a hub of art in various forms and media, culture, and history. Walking through its bustling streets, I was constantly surrounded by a flock of tourists eager to witness its breathtaking architecture. Every corner revealed grand buildings, intricate sculptures, and stunning frescoes that seemed to tell stories of centuries past. If you are eager to get the perfect instagram-worthy shot, ensure you are in the city centre just after sunrise. The Piazza del Duomo, Relais Piazza Signoria, Museum da Vinci, Gallery of the Academy's impressive art collections and sculptures were awe-inspiring highlights. Florence's rich artistic heritage provides a feast for the eyes, making every moment there feel like a journey through masterpieces of art. You must visit Florence at least once if you can.
